"Marianne Bateup was contracted by Realise Business and part of the team engaged in 2018 by the Parramatta Light Rail project to deliver independent advice and business support services to businesses affected by light rail construction. During the initial stages of the service delivery, Marianne developed and successfully presented the Advisory Support Plan based on interviews she conducted with key stakeholders, research, learnings from similar projects as well as information provided by the light rail team including business surveys.

"I have worked with Marianne in a professional capacity over several years first as a business advisor and subsequently as the Business Connect manager at Realise Business, one of the service providers who deliver the NSW Government’s Business Connect program.
Business Connect is a dedicated and personalised NSW Government program that provides trusted advice to help small businesses start, run, adapt or grow. Marianne provided advice and support for small businesses through the Business Connect program from 2018 as a Business Connect advisor and trainer, successfully working with businesses impacted by industry transitions, such as the Point-to-Point Transport industry (Taxis and hire cars) and businesses impacted by the construction of Sydney Light Rail, as well as small businesses requiring general support. Customer feedback and the annual customer satisfaction survey demonstrated high customer satisfaction ratings for Marianne’s support.
In 2019 Marianne took on the role as manager for Realise Business’ Business Connect contract, managing the delivery of services and the relationship with the Department. Marianne’s responsibilities entailed successful contract delivery of all sub-sections of the Business Connect program, which included general advice and business skills training and support to disrupted industries (Point-to-Point transport industry, Sydney Light Rail and the disability sector).
Marianne’s approach to her role and working with the Department was professional, thoughtful and focussed to achieve the aims and outcomes from the perspective of both Business Connect customers and the Department’s objectives in funding the program. Her detailed and collaborative approach meant that performance across the program improved during this period, resulting in the key performance indicators across all aspects of service delivery being met. Marianne took a diligent approach to the delivery of services, requesting regular feedback from the Department during the program to ensure success.
